Once the home of the Kings of Munster, Cashel, is a town dominated by one of Ireland's most impressive landmarks, the Rock of Cashel. A limestone outcrop, rising above the plain, it is a dramatic stand on which are displayed an array of structures: castle, round tower, Romanesque chapel, Gothic cathedral, associated ecclesiastical buildings, crosses, tombs and all enclosed within an intimidating stone wall.
Cashel; a history & guide is an excellent addition to the body of work already existing on this town and its imposing heritage.
